• Assists the Director of Purchasing in developing the short and long term strategy for assigned category, and serves as category expert.
• Leads and assists other Buyers and Sr. Buyers in the strategic sourcing process and overall supplier management.
• Leads continuous improvement projects including supplier performance, cost savings, and quality enhancements.
• Forecasts and tracks market conditions and costs; communicates same with all applicable departments and business units of The Schwan Food Company. Utilizes commodity risk management tools and processes to optimize commodity purchases.
• Maintains a close working relationship with all departments and business units of TSFC, including manufacturing, sales, marketing, purchasing, R&D, FSQ, and Logistics.
• Manages all aspects of the supplier relationship, selection, quality cost, service, innovation, and continuous improvement. Negotiates long term contracts and manages an annual budget of greater than $100 Million.
• Brings ideas and new technology to the attention of the business units and SGSC that will lower total cost, enhance product quality and/or convenience and facilitate new product opportunities.
