Job Description Specialty Meats, Inc., an innovative processor of distinctive quality veal and lamb products, has an immediate opportunity available for an experienced Southern California HACCP/SSOP/QA/QC Monitor.
Job Summary Assist HACCP Coordinator/QC Manager in ongoing weekly through annual monitoring and documentation of the HACCP/SSOP records. Conduct monthly facility audits and swab tests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: . 1. Perform daily HACCP/SSOP monitoring, sample collection. 2. File and maintain all documents in compliance with established policies. 3. Perform temperature checks. 4. Assist in development of product specifications, technical information. 5. Check and maintain calibration of instruments on processing equipment. 6. Monitor weights, package integrity and code dating during manufacturing. 7. Prepare and ship samples/product (FedEx, UPS, truck, etc.) 8. Coordinate weekly product reviews and documentation, inform management of corrective action. 9. Manages appropriately to maintain SUPERIOR ratings during internal/external audits. 10. Assist with compliance in all applicable safety laws and regulation, as well as Company safety policies, procedures and standards. 11. Develops and maintains and conducts training and development programs that support key performance goals for the Company.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of fresh meat processing a plus 2. Working knowledge of HACCP/SSOP procedures and a minimum of 1 – 2 years experience in a USDA or FDA facility. 3. Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing 4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 5. Knowledge of State and Federal processing regulations. 6. Working knowledge of quality control principles and practices. 7. Ability to gather and analyze facts and arrive at sound conclusions 8. Ability to interpret/analyze test results 9. Knowledge of basic office equipment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science or Technology or equivalent experience. Minimum of 1 year of Quality Control/Laboratory experience in the dairy or food processing industry. Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher). HACCP Certified. Must reside in Southern California area. Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.
Salary
Commensurate with experience.
