Fortitech, Inc., a rapidly growing manufacturer of nutritional raw material systems for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries is looking for experienced, energetic, and motivated individuals to join our team.
R&D/Process Engineer
Hands-on project manager responsible for ingredient process development, pilot equipment set up, new product development, cost saving initiatives, powder handling and production capacity optimization. Individual must possess broad knowledge of technologies such as spray drying, encapsulation, granulation and form/fill/seal packaging and their applications within the food and pharmaceutical industry.
Responsibilities Include:
• Provide hands on expertise in production development from laboratory scale to production scale
• Play leading role in the research and development technology transfer of assigned products into production
• Develop, specify and budget processing equipment.
• Compile information and write reports outlining scope, assumptions, risks, labor implications, etc, for equipment performance and cost.
• Be a participating member of project teams with responsibility for overall performance of projects.
• Provide cost effective solutions and maximize efficiency of equipment for the manufacture of new and existing product.
• Specify and validate new processes and equipment. Develop, together with project team engineering leadership that recommends equipment to meet performance levels.
• Maintain strong interaction and work as a team with Production/Operations, Supply Chain, Technical, Quality, Sales and Finance.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing production processes. • Implement quality control systems for new processes.
Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Food, Chemical, Mechanical, and/or Electrical Engineering, with 3-5 years of engineering related experience in the food industry required.
• Proven facilitation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Previous experience with establishing effective packaging process with a focus in lean manufacturing environment.
• Preferred candidate will have background in packaging and manufacturing processes in a food or medical products environment.
• Ability to skillfully interact with all levels of employees within the organization
• Must be capable, hands-on, highly engaged and willing to work in a team environment and to actively promote cooperation between team members.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently.
