Job Description
The Wornick Company Supply Planner

COMPANY The Wornick Company is a progressive, growing organization and a pioneer in the food processing/packaging industry. We are the leading supplier of sustenance food and beverage products for austere environments with over $250 million in sales annually. We are looking for a Supply Planner.

LOCATION This position is located at our Blue Ash assembly facility.

REPORTING STRUCTURE This position reports to the Sales and Operations Planning Manager. As Supply Planner, you have no direct reports.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES As Supply Planner, you will be responsible for planning and preparing the master production schedule for production including crewing levels and equipment allocation. You will also be responsible for procuring raw ingredients and packaging to support planned production schedules.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES A daily plant scheduling meeting will be held to review previous day’s performance, current day plus seven schedule as well as the balance to produce on a monthly basis. A review of inventory levels and status must occur daily. All product goes through a government inspection process and must be monitored closely for conformability. On time delivery is critical.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet multiple contractual obligations of the company. • Responsible for master production schedule to assure all subassembly and final assembly workflow are being performed in accordance with delivery schedules. • Recommends changes, as necessary, to accommodate new contracts, or to react to inventory deficiencies, delivery schedule changes or changes in crewing levels. • Communicates the master schedule to all necessary departments and follow-up with vendors and our own production team to make sure that our finished goods meet the required delivery schedule. • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times. • Responsible for issuing purchase orders to suppliers while conforming to established inventory policies.

EDUCATION A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Continued education in operations management or similar education is beneficial. Knowledge of the food manufacturing industry is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS ERP applications knowledge is necessary. Microsoft Office, with particular experience in Excel. Supply and demand planning software is preferred.

Minimum of 5 years experience involving one or more of the following: manufacturing, business planning and analysis, supply chain, business management or sales.

We have a strong preference for someone with experience in food and/or consumer based products.

Must have organized project management skills; good written and oral communication skills with all levels of management and across all functional areas.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills are necessary.

Must have positive negotiation skills and decision making ability.

You must have demonstrated ability to champion initiatives that positively impact the company’s business plans, operating profits, practices, policies and procedures.

You must have the emotional intelligence to act as coach, mentor and motivator for the staff to ensure growth of your staff in the scope of responsibility and accountability for operational excellence. This includes the ability to communicate passionately, persuasively and clearly with an understanding of your audience and to present ideas and gain commitments that are critical to the success of the company. Commitment to high standards, integrity and ethics are a given.

Exceptionally strong communication skills, both oral and written and strong managerial skills including: good judgment, planning, organizing, innovative approach to problem-solving and motivating employees.

The ability to prioritize and follow-through to achieve results and meet deadlines to meet the needs of the business.

Strong PC skills to include Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
