Job Description
Position Overview:

Applies sound Chemistry principles to analyze and troubleshoot raw material and finished product issues. Provides analytical and technical assistance through research, analysis, and experimentation for purpose of improving product or material quality and improvement of analytical methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Analyze organic compounds to determine chemical and physical properties.

Summarize and present statistical analysis to validate new or proposed changes to specifications or processes.

Prepare standards and specifications for processes, products and tests.

Proactively assist in the design and implementation of new processes, methods and effective laboratory procedures.

Coaches and trains lab personnel in special test procedures to analyze components and physical properties of materials.

Coordinates new laboratory equipment selection and acquisition through submission of Capital Expenditure requests.

Operates and performs maintenance on advanced laboratory equipment such as HPLC, NIR, Spectrometer, etc.

Conducts evaluations and assessments to ensure precision and accuracy of laboratory tests and technicians.

Provides back-fill coverage in lab positions and contributes experience and scientific knowledge.

Assists in preparing for and participating in customer, regulatory, and third party audits in the areas of equipment calibration, technician training and tests accuracy.

Assist in investigation and satisfactory disposition of internal issues, customer complaints and audit findings related to techniques or instrumentation

Lead person in implementing and recommending safety laboratory practices.

Requirements:

The position requires a minimum Bachelor of Science degree (food, chemical or biological)

Minimum of three years of laboratory testing experience in the food industry.
