Job Description
Overview: The successful candidate for this position will work as a Process Engineer in the Product Commercialization Engineering group.
Primary responsibilities include new product process design and development, cost estimation, pilot plant process testing, equipment installation, and process commissioning support for capital projects. Secondary responsibility includes process optimization. In this function, the Product Commercialization Engineer will be working directly with Product Development Scientists, Marketing Managers and Industrial Engineers to develop new product concepts into commercially viable new product processes. Upon capital approval the Product Engineer will work with Process Design, Controls and Packaging Engineers, Capital Project Management, Operations Planning, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Product Development, and Marketing personnel
Responsibilities: - Responsible for preparing new product process flows and manufacturing feasibility assessments. Assessment will include process design, scope of work, and capital cost estimates for various process-related projects. - Responsible for planning, developing, leading pilot plant testing and assimilating the test data for scale-up and further process refinement. - Responsible for developing processes suitable for implementation in a manufacturing facility within the required project timetable. - Responsible for process support of capital projects, including process design and equipment selection, creation of PFD's and P&ID's, preparing equipment and construction bid specifications, and acquisition, installation, start-up of process equipment and systems, troubleshooting, and the training of line supervisors, operators and maintenance personnel. - Responsible for managing the process engineering portion of capital projects, including cost, schedule, and resources (internal and contractors), as well as leading multi-functional teams in project execution. - Responsible for process optimization during startup and early production.
Qualifications: Required Education:
B.S. Chemical, Bio or Food Engineering
Required Work Experience: Associate Engineer: 0 - 2 years, co-op/internship experience a plus.
Engineer:
3 - 5 years in Process Design Engineering is preferred, will consider experience in Process Optimization and Process Development. Experience with PFD's, P&ID's and GMP's required.
Senior Engineer:
6 - 8 years in Process Design Engineering. Past experience in leading the Process Engineering portion of a project is required. Experience with PFD's, P&IDs, and GMP's required. Previous experience in the Food and/or Pharmaceutical industry is required.

Excellent written and oral communication skills. 6. Must be open to and comfortable with change. 7. Must be able to execute projects in a timely manner. 8. Open to travel (including International) based on assignment (35-50% averaged over 5 years).
Preferred Skills: 1. Prior experience in the Confectionery, Food, or Pharmaceutical industry. 2. Familiarity of PFD's, P&ID's, and GMP's. 3. Familiarity with MS Office, MS Project, SAP and CAD.
