The position has primary responsibility for The Carriage House Companies’ centralized engineering operations (e.g. mechanical, structural, electrical, environmental) supporting six manufacturing locations. Responsibilities include facilities planning, design and construction.
Develop, maintain and manage the divisional capital budget and long range plans through close interaction with the Plant Engineers at the manufacturing locations. Monitor project submittals and installation schedules to assure compliance with goals Manages Capital Projects for six manufacturing plants, as well as divisional projects Leads capital budget development and cash flow management Initiates and supports continuous improvement/cost management initiatives Participates in energy management, conservation and procurement Interfaces with facilities maintenance and operations teams, providing technical support and coaching Coordinates synergies (processing, packaging, procedures, best practices, etc.) to maintain the highest level of quality and consistency among the manufacturing locations. Actively participates on key business teams to optimize the manufacturing network maximizing customer service levels and profit while maintaining high quality products Supports acquisition efforts through technical evaluation and reporting on facilities, operations and cost reduction opportunities at potential acquisition sites Provides cost estimates, conceptual line design and projected capacities for new business opportunities, capacity expansion and product line extensions Interfaces with Sales and Marketing and Business Development teams to provide innovative options for process and packaging improvements and line re-designs to meet price point/margin objectives Supports I.T. capital projects through project development and installations, cash flow management and asset control and assignment Interfaces with managers and staff across Ralcorp divisions to facilitate technical information sharing and to support potential growth initiatives and development of best practices
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering discipline. Minimum of 15 years of directly related manufacturing experience in the Food Industry. Complete understanding of food processing and packaging systems Extensive experience in Project Management and Capital Estimating Skills Strong business analytical skills with the ability to prioritize a large project demand Excellent verbal and written communications skills Strong leadership and influence management skills Practical experience in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, presentation development and AUTO CAD (Microsoft applications) Strong multi-tasking skills; ability to balance a dynamic and diverse project portfolio Must be able to work independently and with multiple remote manufacturing sites Regular travel to all CHC manufacturing sites. Estimated travel is 30% Actively participate on the project teams for all CHC major capital projects Technical staff development skills within the Engineering team and with the technical teams at all locations Knowledge of environmental, code and safety regulations on the Federal, State and Local levels Ability to understand and negotiate legal contracts as they relate to equipment purchases and contractor proposals/bids, and to interface with legal counsel to achieve favorable contract language
