Job Description
Series Overview:
Employees in positions at this level of the series support achievement of plant objectives through maintaining manufacturing or packaging equipment at required operating levels by adjusting or replacing parts as necessary to facilitate the repair and/or changeover of equipment to manufacture or package various products. Also maintain manufacturing and/or packaging equipment at required operating levels, through the performance of preventative/predictive maintenance and major overhauls in order to meet departmental production standards on equipment.
Job Description:
Employees in positions allocated to this series provide support to the achievement of plant objectives by ensuring that equipment in various manufacturing and packaging areas are maintained and operate properly.
Primary Responsibilities:
Typical duties of a Mechanic I (Mechanical)include:
â?¢Execute work orders
â?¢Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment as assigned
â?¢Install and align new equipment
â?¢Service, troubleshoot, and repair any problem of any nature in mechanical area including, but not limited to,
pumps, grinders, water distribution, centrifuges, fire protection, boilers, dryers, compressors, sewer, fuels, blowers, fans, chemical systems, and conveyor systems
â?¢Gather and process data from multiple sources related to mechanical failures
â?¢Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs and VSDs
â?¢Verify job is complete and machine made whole before turn over

â?¢Execute work orders
â?¢Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment as assigned
â?¢Install and align new equipment
â?¢Service, troubleshoot, and repair any problem of any nature in electrical area including, but not limited to,
electrical circuits, switches, motors, electronic measurement transmitters, controllers, pneumatic controls and valves, pH transmitters and controllers, density(solids) transmitters, computer interfacing and maintenance
â?¢Gather and process data from multiple sources related to electrical failures
â?¢Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs and VSDs
â?¢Troubleshoot and repair Variable Speed Drives
â?¢Verify job is complete and machine made whole before turn over
Minimum Qualifications:
Mechanic I(Mechanical/(Electrical)include:
High School Diploma or GED
5 years experience as a Mechanic in Mechanical/Electrical or Associates Degree
Additional Competencies and Experience Desired:
Mechanic I(Mechanical)include:
Knowledge of:
â?¢Site safety and environmental requirements and policies
â?¢Plant work requirements and procedures
â?¢Plant equipment and repair procedures
Ability to:
â?¢Utilize a computer
â?¢Utilize SAP work order system
â?¢Train and demonstrate skills to lower level mechanics
â?¢Gather and process data from multiple sources related to mechanical/electrical failures
Skill in:
â?¢Welding
â?¢Bearing Installation
â?¢Vibration measurements and analysis
â?¢Strobe meter application and analysis
Mechanic I(Electrical)include:
Knowledge of:
â?¢Site safety and environmental requirements and policies
â?¢Plant work requirements and procedures
â?¢Plant equipment and repair procedures
Ability to:
â?¢Utilize a computer
â?¢Utilize SAP work order system
â?¢Train and demonstrate skills to lower level mechanics

â?¢Variable Frequency Drives
â?¢AC motors
â?¢DC motors
â?¢Basic pipefitting
