Job Description
This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of product quality and safety by ensuring that all bakery equipment, structural and storage facilities, depots and transportation equipment are in compliance with GMPâ??s (Good Manufacturing Processes) and Federal, State and local food protection standards, and Hostess's corporate programs. This position has direct responsibility for ensuring all work activities under its span of control are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement.

PRINCIPAL ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that all work activities of direct and indirect reports are performed with attention to the highest standards of food quality, safe processes, compliance with all appropriate legal requirements and a focus on continuous process improvement
  • Manages, evaluates, motivates and directs sanitation initiatives for Plant Sanitation supervision and crew
  • Ensure compliance with corporate standards and systems to monitor food safety, and facility cleanliness
  • Ensure compliance and monitors standards for local sanitation manpower, and supply expenses
  • Inspects, monitors, educates, local bakery departments regarding food safety and cleanliness in the handling, production, and transportation of ingredients and finished products
  • Ensures supplier ingredients meet acceptable standards to produce consistent, safe, quality products
  • Promotes safety through work procedures, orderly work environments, and employee safety programs
  • Ensures compliance with contractual and labor relations issues Promotes Company EEO policies, and other Hostess and local work policies


Job Requirements:
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • 3 years experience at a Plant Supervisor level or higher with exposure to GMPâ??s required
  • Must understand GMPâ??s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Must have general knowledge of equipment used in bakeries and depots for production, storage, and transfer of products, and cleaning practices for that equipment
  • Must have experience working to budgets in controlling labor and equipment
  • Strong planning and organizational skills required
  • Must have knowledge of inspecting, receiving and storing ingredients and wrapping materials in warehouses and bulk food bins
  • Must have experience implementing HACCP (hazard analysis critical control points)
  • Must have a solid understanding of allergens and mold issues
  • Rodent, bird and insect pest control experience required, including use of chemical and non-chemical controls
  • Must have experience and certification in the proper and safe use of pesticides and cleaners in bakeries and depots
  • Must have understanding of the American Institute of Baking inspection procedures
  • Must have the ability to implement and use a Sanitation Master Workbook
  • Must be able to build communications programs for safety practices
  • Must have supervisory skills; demonstrate leadership by influencing others in implementing sanitation programs through effective communication, individual technical knowledge, and training
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal hands on coaching and direction
  • Must be able to function as a team player in the local management structure
  • Must have excellent oral and communication skills   
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required, particularly with Microsoft Excel  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Pest Control Licensing preferred, or the ability to obtain such within six months
  • Advanced Sanitation course work and training from AIB and other food accrediting agencies preferred
  • Exposure to Supply Chain and Supply Chain Best Practices preferred
  • Experience in a food production facility preferred
