PRODUCTION SHIFT ASSOCIATE TEAM LEADER; Agricultural Manufacturer; IA

In the US, the company employs approximately 500 employees at two manufacturing facilities located in the Midwest.
The Production Associate Team Leader willreport directly to the Production Unit Management of the Operations Division. Responsibilities include supervision of up to twenty (20) hourly staff of the production area to achieve the highest efficiency, most economical operation, and good process control with performance consistent with Company production, safety, and sanitation standards.
Primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Leadership responsibilities for day to day operations • troubleshooting to assure consistent plant yields and output quality is maintained • meeting all Operations KP1s • providing support for new programs and projects that affect daily operations • and execution of improvement projects on reducing fixed costs and improving plant yields or chemical usages • participating in the maintenance planning process and initiating maintenance requisitions in order to maintain quality and performance • coordinate activities with Operations and Supply Chain to insure that the plant operations are aligned with the needs of the customers.
This position will supervise Area Operators and will be responsible for administering the company’s Performance Excellence Program (PEP), including training and evaluation of hourly production and operations, following established procedures, management programs, and the bargaining unit contract, and initiation of disciplinary action when required. Shift duties, with occasional on-call duties.
The following requirements and qualifications have been established for this position:
- BS- Chemical Engineering degree
- >5yrs experience in an Agricultural Manufacturing facility
- Understanding of Theory of Chemical Engineering principles and Chemical Unit Operations of Food Processes
- Understanding of distillation, evaporation and chemical reactions
- What effects process yields and outcomes
- Demonstrates understanding of Theory concerning food processing
- Understanding mechanical aptitude with process equipment
- Demonstrates fundamental understanding of Mechanical Equipment and Programmed logic
- Must have strong process troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills and/or possesses supervisory experience of >5 personnel (prefer >15 personnel)
- Demonstrates ability to execute, manage, and/or develop projects effectively
- Demonstrates ability to develop and execute against production plans to meet output requirements
- Experience with Safety and Environmental Concerns
- Demonstrates strong internal and external communication skills
- Demonstrates high-level computer skills
