Account Manager
Skills / Experience Requirements :
Bachelor's in Business, Ag Economics and/or Marketing preferred
Minimum of six years experience in selling to food processors
Additional Bachelor's in Food Science or Science related field a plus
Working knowledge of commodity trading and Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT)
Strong work ethic with excellent interpersonal skills
Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft applications
AP experience a plus
Export and budgeting experience strongly preferred
Overview
Direct key sales and marketing activities to maximize volume and margin in order to achieve the highest return on net assets for products
Essential Functions
Market value-added products into major food, beverage, and industrial channels
Direct and manage margin control decisions between product prices and prime sales product pricing components
Oversee the production and product packaging mix to optimize run-time and supply chain efficiency
Work closely with the general manager on strategic planning responsibilities
Lead and develop the sales and customer service staff
Develop sales budget and expense by product, type and product package
Maintain customer relationships
Work with company business unit’s sales forces to develop a growth plan for product sales
Lead the implementation of sales growth initiatives
Negotiate and close sales opportunities
Ensure customer focus initiatives, and coordinate activities with product innovation group; maintain close contact with technical service and R&D.
Be the lead for competitive intelligence and market conditions; establish and maintain a market model
Address customer credit and receivable issues as needed
Maintain strong relationships with customers and buyers and their plant, warehouse and operations personnel where appropriate
Coordinates and understands the customer’s needs and what the plant is able to produce (mill balance/sales mix)
Assist customer service representatives in the management of customer contract pricing, balances and position reporting
Develops business plan for each account segment.
Coordinates use of Company resources (e.g. technical, advertising) to provide value added services to accounts; work with marketing personnel designated to milling
Prepares sales presentations and proposals for key customer initiatives and supports sales staff to have tools necessary to make value-added sales to customer base
Create and share proper reporting documents required by management
