Job Description
To provide Quality Assurance Control for all company products to ensure that the highest standards for quality are maintained. Research and provide input on product development. Provide training to staff by researching and answering questions about products. Promote an understanding of the quality standards with plant associates. Respond to customer concerns and visit customer accounts. Interact with manufacturers of equipment, packaging materials, and other supplies. Responsible for the specifications for company grading standards and policies.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate customer complaint process. (data input, investigation, corrective action, response to customer).
- Review lab data on a daily basis. Alert appropriate personnel, if necessary, to resolve issues. Help in troubleshooting.
- Propose annual capital budget for Laboratory.
- Oversee the Quality Teams (HACCP, Internal Audit).
- Coordinate and oversee the environmental program, and all other required testing.
- Fill out defect classification and suggest product disposition on non-compliance reports.
- Responsible to provide external auditors with information, write responses and coordinate plant follow-up.
- Coordinate traceability exercises.
- Coordinate and oversee plant sanitation programs.
- Assure that plant specific standard operating and standard sanitation operating procedures meet DFA standards.
- Oversee staffing, training & scheduling for QA/Laboratory personnel
- Oversee routing of product to customers’ written specifications and COA documentation.
- Performs other supervisory and QA procedures as necessary or assigned.
- Proficiency in all laboratory testing.
- Plant liaison between regulatory agencies and management.
- Responsible for customer audits and coordinating third party audits.
- Participates in and coordinates internal programs, such as communications, vacation schedules, job analysis and evaluation, employee performance reviews, wage administration, etc.
- Maintain and update product labels to assure that they meet the requirements outlined in the CFR.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Convey company, facility, and department goals and KPIs to employees.
- Oversee Food Security program (DFA Operational Risk Management for Food Security Risk Assessment).
- Maintain Vendor Approval program and associated documentation (Vendor Packet, Letters of Guaranty, Technical Specifications, etc.).
- Maintain DFA QA&C Standard Operating Procedures and Documents System and coordinate annual review of all SOPs by appropriate departments.
- Coordinate with customers for new item setup, product specifications, labeling requirements, and complaint resolution.
