Job Description

 


The Business Unit Manager will provide support to Operations Management that will help facilitate continuous cost reduction and process improvement efforts at the plant level. Make recommendations that will impact efficiency, throughput, cost reduction, productivity, schedule compliance and quality. Develop measurement systems and provide reports that quantify key process improvement areas. Provide support to operations management in regards to supervision and management of production areas as needed. Fosters a safe work environment. Ensures all quality standards are met.

The Business Unit Manager will be responsible for the operation of his / her teams from Processing to Packaging.
  • Meet production and budgetary objectives.
  • Delivery of Business Plan
  • Strategic Planning and Implementation
  • Manage departmental performance measures and provide progress reports
  • Work with Operations Management to identify and implement cost savings ideas and waste reduction opportunities.
  • Facilitate Continuous Cost improvement efforts.
  • Provide problem solving expertise by identifying root causes for problem areas and recommending possible solutions.
  • Provide support for Capital Project justifications.
  • Provide post-installation analysis on new technology and capital equipment installations.
  • Analyze plant floor data and provide feedback that will enable process improvements.
  • Manage production supervisory staff .
  • Achieve plant safety goals and support all safety initiatives.
  • Waste reduction.
  • Achieve all quality objectives and meet company and customer specifications.
  • Establish clear goals and accountability to direct reports and provide feedback on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that customer service requirements are met.
  • Directs compliance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Safe Quality Food (SQF), Company, and or Government requirements / standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

Job Qualifications

 

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a continuous process manufacturing industry and preferably the food industry.
  • Analytical skills

  • Team Building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks on an ongoing basis
  • Relocation will be required in the future
