Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician will serve as liaison between Production and Quality Management teams to ensure product quality in the food production process.  The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented and self-motivated to endlessly improve all aspects of quality. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Verify food safety procedures: keep the product at a high level of quality and safety by monitoring GMP and SSOPs.
  • Review QA and Production-related documents; correct as needed
  • Perform chemical testing on products (moisture, pH, salt content, etc.)
  • Collect and prepare microbiological samples to be sent out for testing
  • Audits: inspect incoming ingredients. Verify formulations.
  • New product follow-up
  • Modify and maintain forms (HACCP, GMP, SSOP, D.P.R., etc.)
  • Update and request documents from suppliers
  • Solve problems relating to product quality and/or safety
  • Monitor and verify the production procedures
  • Ensure that production area follows the procedures and policies

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate training and prepare training materials regarding SSOPs, GMP, allergens, food defense, etc.
  • Cooperate with USDA inspectors
  • Order supplies as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5 years quality assurance experience in food manufacturing
  • Ability and willingness to be HACCP certified

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or equivalent experience
