Engineering Manager- Food & Beverage Processing

Modesto, CA

Position Summary

Design Group is looking to hire an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager for our Food & Beverage Processing Discipline in Modesto, CA.

Education

BS in Electrical and/or Chemical Engineering is preferred, but consideration will be given to other engineering degrees based on actual project experience.Industry specific experience in the food & beverage environments is strongly preferred.

Experience

Minimum 10 years of engineering management experience involving process design and software development of food and beverage processing systems.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Responsibilities include accountability for complete project execution teams including system design, component specification, documentation management, vendor/contractor management, equipment procurement, installation, start-up and qualification.

 

The ideal candidate will have team leadership experience and a working knowledge of compartmentalized work packets used for outsourcing to subject matter experts or subcontracted suppliers.  Strong project engineering and project management capabilities are required for this position.  Design Group uses typical Microsoft Office platforms for day to day communication but a background in Microsoft Project & AutoCAD would be considered complementary.

 

This position requires the ability to work with minimal supervision; effective organizational skills and the ability to successfully execute multiple project responsibilities are essential. Candidates need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Maintaining solid client relationships is a crucial responsibility.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership across multiple disciplines and organize cross-functional project teams.

 

Mechanical:

Qualified candidates will have extensive process engineering and project management experience.  Working knowledge of process flow diagrams, piping & instrument diagrams, equipment arrangements, piping system design, material handling, equipment & installation specifications and functional specifications are necessities.  A practical understanding of sanitary design and construction methods is preferred.

 

Electrical & Software:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of process control hardware, instrumentation, and software including industry-standard PLC, DCS, SCADA, Historian, and database platforms.  Although Allen-Bradley platforms are essential, experience in programming a variety of control systems (GE Fanuc, Siemens, Delta-V, ABB DCS, Honeywell DCS, iFix, Cimplicity, RSView and Wonderware) is desired.  A strong working knowledge of control system network is required (Ethernet, ControlNet & DeviceNet, etc.).  Experience with S88 standards and batch systems are desired.  Leading teams through conceptual, detail, engineer, FAT, check out (static / dynamic), start up, qualifying and troubleshoot phases will be required.

Travel Requirements

20-40% travel will be required to support installation and start-up activities.  Attending client meetings, Design Group management meetings, company sponsored training and industry related seminars, forums or conventions will be required as well.
