Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate is responsible for producing the highest quality products in the most safe, effective and efficient manner, consistent with Company schedules, policies and regulatory compliance.
The incumbent is also responsible for the direct supervision of operations supervisors. In addition, the individual has responsibility for all aspects of Production.

JOB DUTIES:

    * Fosters and maintains a positive labour relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect and ensures a climate of open communication.
    * Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower, equipment, and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses and to optimize profitability.
    * Assists supervisors to ensure effective staffing levels to meet production requirements through developing highly skilled cross-functional employees.
    * Develops, empowers and holds supervisors accountable to effectively address day to day operational needs.
    * Coordinates with Production Scheduling and Maintenance on efficient run strategies and adjust schedules between shifts as necessary to maintain full production.
    * Evaluates, modifies, and designs production policies and procedures to ensure product quality and integrity, and ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
    * Leads the continuous improvement initiatives at all levels and in all processes within scope of responsibility.
    * Identifies and implements cost savings ideas in areas such as but not limited to waste reduction and yield improvements.
    * Serves as a change agent to challenge existing processes and implements new initiatives through effective communication and buy-in.
    * Provides problem solving expertise by identifying root causes for problems and recommends solutions to resolve.
    * Ensures products meet all identified product tolerances and product specifications.
    * Creates an environment of employee participation, empowerment, and a true stakeholder mentality.
    * Formulates and manages the control of all budgeted processes including labor costs, supply costs, equipment costs, and outside contractor costs.
    * Participates in and help develop business goals as required.
    * Works effectively with outside vendors, customers, and officials.
    * Participates in the development, implementation, and on-going maintenance of various facility audits including SQF Level II.

Job Qualifications

    * B.S. degree in Business, Manufacturing, Food Production, or related field.
    * Minimum of 5-7 years experience in managing operations in a food production environment preferred. Minimum 3-5 years experience in a management role within a unionized work environment.
    * Demonstrated change agent with significant accomplishments in the above areas.
      Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams.
    * Demonstrated leadership skills.
    * Individual must be self-directed, have high initiative and be results oriented.
    * Experience in mentoring and motivating employees across all levels.
    * Individual must thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment.
    * Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
    * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
