Job Description
Develop and manage all Ingredient and Packaging purchasing activities with a budget of more than $175 million. Direct the efforts of the Divisional purchasing staff to secure commitment throughout the supply chain. Directly manage a staff of 4-6 in the purchasing of raw material, packaging and miscellaneous items. Work with across Corporate purchasing network to develop and lead Network category teams in center led Strategic Supplier initiatives to lower total cost of ownership and ensure that the Division and Corporation have a continuity of supply and are a Customer of Choice for our vendors. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge of Supply Chain processes, inventory management and active customer involvement. This is a leadership position that requires collaborative efforts with the Supply Chain Management Team across the areas of planning, warehouse, quality assurance, finance and operations.

Job Duties
  • Develop and execute packaging and ingredient budget. Coordinate the development of a commodity budget. Review and manage annual administrative budget.
  • Control expenditures to suppliers and coordinate supplier interaction with manufacturing operations to assure continuity of supply and profitable operations. Also using analytical tools to provide necessary feedback to vendors on their performance.
  • Facilitate the packaging development activities for the Division.
  • All functions pertaining to purchasing of: packaging, ingredients and miscellaneous items.
  • Lead and participate in developing short and long-range division/network supplier strategies and polices, link strategic plans to Division/Corporate vision and growth plan, and prioritize division/network organization-wide efforts to implement strategies.
  • Establish clear and measurable goals that challenge procurement to continuously improve; use financial and quantitative data to manage; direct and develop procurement process disciplines and management systems necessary to achieve objectives.
  • Lead and participate in the development of the division/network procurement organization, process, technology, and financial models.
  • Develop, support, and establish division policies that have enterprise-wide effect; analyze and evaluate complex policy issues and make recommendations on actions to be taken; participate in setting direction for governance and control programs to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.
  • Lead change on procurement initiatives that have enterprise-wide impact.
  • Develop and participate in establishing recommendations for a world-class, advanced professional organization that aligns with Corporation’s vision and growth plans.
  • Create developmental opportunities that help to build a diverse pool of talent.
  • Be accountable for people development and results achievement in a participatory team environment at the division/network level. Provide leadership that instills confidence and drives personal growth.
  • Manage resources and resolve conflict over resource allocation and other critical issues across the division/network; mediate highly complex and often conflicting issues involving multiple groups.

Job Qualifications

 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Ag. Economics, Finance, R&D or related fields (materials management). M.B.A preferred, or commensurate experience.
  • APICS Certification a plus: Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of progressive experience managing in a matrix procurement environment or activities requiring similar experience and background. Food manufacturing and/or consumer products purchasing with an emphasis in packaging and ingredients. Experience with baked goods preferred.
  • High degree of problem solving and decision-making ability. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, work well in a team environment, able to work in diverse environments at all levels of management, and adhere to highest ethical standards.
  • Skills in all Procurement process disciplines including spend category / commodity management, project management, financial analysis, negotiation, supplier selection, supplier value management, benefits capture, requisition to payment, and acquisition integration.
  •  Skills in select Supply Chain processes including inventory management, and transportation networks, financial planning and budgeting, forecasting, e-procurement. Background in Supply Chain Management, lean manufacturing processes, C.I., inventory management, e-commerce
