Job Description

McCormick & Company, Incorporated, a global leader in flavor, is seeking a full timeScientist – Product Development on a Seasonings Lab Team supporting a major industrial customer.  This position will be in McCormick’s Technical Innovation Center (TIC), located at 202-204 Wight Avenue in Hunt Valley, MD.  The new hire will report to a Distinguished Scientist / Product Development Director.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This Scientist will support a strategic industrial customer through development of new products, line extensions, brand maintenance, and operations/cost optimization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • creative seasoning system product development
  • provide excellent product development support for our customers
  • commercialization of products (understanding of processes and operations for seasoning manufacture)
  • employ strong understanding of consumer and general sensory testing, including its application toproduct development
  • design and manage experiments
  • investigate and assess new ingredients and technologies available for seasoning product development improvements
  • collect and interpret data
  • apply knowledge of seasoning ingredients and flavors, their major vendors, and performance attributes (including flavor, functionality, and quality)

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS Degree in Food Science/Technology, Food Engineering, Chemistry or a related field required
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in seasoning or flavor development in the food industry required
  • Proven ability to interpret scientific data, including sensory and analytical, and commercialization required
  • Desire to workcollaboratively with a diverse group of people required
  • Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with external and internal (i.e. account managers, scientists of various disciplines and business leaders) customers required
  • High degree of ownership and professional commitment required
  • Proven success multi tasking in a fast paced environment required
  • Strong passion and interest in cuisine preferred
  • Experience with SAP, product formulary and retrieval systems preferred
