PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Responsible for the leadership of all manufacturing operations relating to milling to insure optimum, timely production at the most economical cost, supporting all quality standards and maintaining a high performing operations team.
SUPERVISION: Directs the activities of, and is accountable for, the results produced by employees in the following positions.
Mill supervisors, operators and GMP personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements describe the key responsibilities to be performed by the position. Key responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation.
- To manage the milling operations in order to provide maximum, quality production at minimum costs while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment.
- Establish and maintain department programs which support full compliance of Federal, State and Plant standards for safety, quality, sanitation and operational practices.
- Establish department budgets and yields and direct the departments in a manner that produces the highest level of efficiency while meeting the budget criteria.
- Identify and implement departmental cost reduction/improvement projects to provide annual savings and productivity improvements. This would be supported by keeping abreast of all new developments in milling equipment and technology.
- To insure alignment/coordination with all other Plant departments, both staff and operations, for optimum overall performance. This would include an open communication channel as well as the sharing of resources as the need arises.
- To train and motivate subordinates in the performance of their duties, develop their management skill sets, and encourage creativity and risk-taking to enhance their value to the company.
- To provide a work environment conducive to people improvement and motivation of the workforce. The environment should encourage team performance and thrive on their continuous improvement, both within the team and individually.
- Support all testing and product development in the milling areas through commitment to timelines, safe and efficient operations and a supportive atmosphere of the milling organization.
- Development of a PM program for the milling operations to support the achievement of all production schedules and minimize costs associated with equipment-related downtime.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The following is the requisite education and/or work experience for this position.
College graduate with a minimum of a 4 year degree preferably in a technical field and at least 5 years of leadership experience in operations. An operations person with more technical experience (10+ years) and supervisory experience would be considered without the college degree.

- Performance management experience in the area of quarterly and annual reviews, performance assessment, etc.
- Strong presentation skills, both verbal and written, as well as a good understanding and use of a computer including Excel, Word, Project Management, Visio, RF Flow, etc.
- Technical competency in manufacturing and milling processes.
- Strong communication skills; keep all levels of the organization informed in a timely manner on pertinent information as well as explaining business strategies/goals effectively.
- Active learner that seeks new ways of accomplishing results and solving problems.
