Job Description

Consumer Products/Industrial Manufacturing Company is looking for:

 

POSITION:    Environmental Coordinator

LOCATION: Canton OH Area

SALARY:  60K

DEGREE:   Required

EXPERIENCE:   3+

RELOCATION: Not  Available.

 

Safety Responsibilities

  • Participate/support the RMP (Risk Management Process) and assist in the development of the system and operational standards and corrective actions.

·Oversees and amends processes (Employee Safety Handbook, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and SOPs) necessary to remain compliant with applicable federal, state and local safety standards.

  • Manages contractor safety environmental compliance program (Ensures contractor compliance with Authorized lockout/tagout, HAZWOPER, hearing conservation, powered industrial truck, confined space entry, Standard First Aid and AED).
  • Manages Emergency Preparedness for facilities.
  • Conduct safety audits and assure abatement of noncompliance items.
  • Audits and Maintains Hazard Communication process (MSDS, labeling).
  • Conducts proper investigations for all facility incidents, spills, accidents, near misses and injuries.
  • Serves as member/leader/resource for teams critical to assure safety compliance in the facility.
  • Assists in necessary environmental and safety training.
  • Providing safety materials and equipment for employees.
  • Creating monthly safety newsletters.
  • Creating and implementing employee incentive programs.
  • Work directly with the EHS Manager.
  • Training and educating employees in the factory key element process.
  • Attend and participate in factory staff safety meetings.
  • Work directly with the maintenance department.
  • Keep accurate records of meetings and training.
  • Facilitate safety sub-committees and groups.

 

Environmental Responsibilities

  • Completes all necessary EPA reporting for facility
    • SARA 311/312 Tier II
    • Form R Toxic Release Inventory
    • Waste water Reporting
    • Storm water Sampling visual checks
  • Correspond and assist with reporting to outside agencies (EPA).
  • Serves as member/leader/resource for teams critical to assure environmental compliance in the facility.
  • Conduct and participate corporate and outside agency audits.
  • Conduct environmental audits and assure abatement of noncompliance items.
  • Participate in site security projects.
  • Monitor and facilitate wastewater treatment operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections outlined in the Spill Prevention, Control, Counter Measure Plan.
  • Conduct employee awareness training on a regular basis.
  • Facilitate meetings with specialty groups (Green Teams, Core Team).
  • Provides appropriate and timely corporate environmental information.
  • Keep accurate records of training, reports, audits, etc.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and other discussion groups.
  • Manages wastewater system to ensure compliance and sampling requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with SPCCP and SWPPP (Ensure Plans are current).
  • Manages hazardous waste storage area and ensures waste shipments are properly manifested and labeled.
  • Manages processes necessary to maintain EPA compliance with permits.

 

Process Safety Management (PSM) Responsibilities

  • Manage Process Safety Management for the facility.
  • Manage the MOC process (at change conception stage).
  • Manage the PHA process (with Engineering to ensure all potential hazards are addressed).
  • Manage the Prestart Hazard Review process (before change is implemented).
  • Keeping accurate maintenance records on machinery and parts.
  • Developing standard operating procedures for utility technicians.
  • Training utility technicians on SOP’s and other areas pertaining to PSM.
  • Conducting regular meetings with managers and utility technicians.
  • Correspond with corporate managers.
  • Working with outside contractors on training and requirements.
  • Regular inspections of equipment.
  • Creating integrity programs and certification processes for equipment.
  • Assign responsibilities to utility technicians as needed.
  • Work directly with the maintenance department and the plant EHS Manager.
  • Work with clients on special projects.

Investigates and provides solutions to environmental issues or material releases to ensure prevention of recurrence.
