Job Summary
The Project Management Specialist provides engineering support and leadership to Project Management to actively complete tasks and projects within these disciplines to gain knowledge and understanding of Company manufacturing systems and engineering processes while developing basic leadership skills to advance into positions with greater responsibility at a future date.
This position provides Project Management leadership, expertise and direction toward the successful execution of capital projects. Typically these projects are below board level dollars, they are projects of lower risk and complexity.
Depending on size, location, and type of projects, this position may be expected to manage multiple smaller projects from $250K to $5MM simultaneously.
This position leads project teams to deliver capital investment projects that align with business strategies, follow structured guidelines, company policies, and deliver the highest value asset allocation possible.
Position Responsibilities
This position involves significant communication and coordination with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Corporate Finance / Accounting, Research / Quality & Innovation, Safety / Health & Environmental departments, and Alliance Engineering provider.
Functionally this position reports directly to the Director of Engineering Programs. On a project basis, this position also has a reporting relationship with the Senior Engineering Director and/or Director of the Platform Group for which they are executing projects.
This position interacts frequently with leadership positions within the Platform Groups, Innovation and Operations.
External interaction will include, however, not limited to, equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors, local / state / federal government agencies, and co-manufacturing organizations.
This person is recognized as proficient in Project Management. Has demonstrated accomplishments and contributions to meet business initiatives while delivering on the core principles of cost, schedule and performance.
This position typically manages 1 to 3 projects, including special requests when necessary.
This position may manage multiple project staffs of 2-10 engineering professionals
Project values will range from $250K to $5MM and can be multiple projects in this category.
Execute, integrate and align assigned projects by utilizing workflows with RQI, Operations and Platform Groups. Execute project initiatives to ensure that all projects are completed to meet business needs.
Responsible to ensure that all project planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed accurately and that all projects are delivered within cost, schedule and performance success criteria.
This position is expected to progress increasing responsibility and project size, with the goal of Project Manager as the next career step, within 2-3 years.
Position Qualifications
BS Degree in Engineering with 2 to 4 years of related Engineering experience is expected. Professional certifications are positives for employment consideration.
The candidate must possess leadership, cost consciousness, organizational and communication skills along with diplomacy skills that will promote good relations with all facets of management and other diverse disciplines in the effective execution of projects or completion of FEL packages to accomplish Corporate and Platform Group objectives.
Demonstrated proficiency in project management tasks, utilizing the EWP in all project work and or completion of FEL packages.
Must be open to 40-60% travel
