SUMMARY

The Engineering Research Director oversees and manages the work of laboratory scientists and/or technicians to achieve established goals. This team member will evaluate new technology and provide guidance and recommendations including business, legal, regulatory, technical and intellectual property aspects that may impact projects. The team member effectively manages resources of equipment and staff to develop new technologies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

    * Advanced technical degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in engineering is required.
    * 10+ years of experience performing laboratory research is required.
    * 5+ years of experience managing technical staff is required.
    * Demonstrated ability to perform significant scientific research as evidenced by publications, patents and presentations.
    * Knowledge in Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability and willingness to learn new software applications.
    * Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
