Job Description
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Sr. Director, Pricing & Trade Strategy with all relevant cost, competitor, capacity, customer, and consumer information required to make forward looking pricing action decisions for McCain USA.

The Senior Financial Analyst will have strong financial analysis and accounting skills. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to; the assembling of financial data, perform financial analysis and provide sufficient periodic financial information to support the planning and decision making processes that ensure profitability and sustainability of McCain Foods. This position will have regular interaction with other personnel in the corporate and operational accounting groups, as well as, other individuals throughout the corporate office.

          

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage pricing performance and appropriate analysis for the retail, special market group, school and a portion of the national account business areas of the Company while developing recommendations that optimize McCain’s long term profitability.
  • Develop and maintain price forecasting model to support planning and analyze monthly/quarterly vs. appropriate benchmarks, make value-added recommendations, and prepare ad hoc analyses as requested in order to facilitate the formation of sound business plans and strategies.
  • Creates/implements/performs various financial analyses including, but not limited to: product/customer profitability, key customers request, trends and drivers, customer bid proposal support, pricing and promotion, and competitor benchmarking.Stays current on market conditions and market pricing on competing product categories and develops recommendations to changes in business or product category pricing strategy.
  • Suggest opportunities to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the pricing process.
  • Lead McCain USA’s compilation of competitive threats (products, production capabilities, pricing) and maintenance of a competition database.
  • Analyze and evaluate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results in order to provide full understanding of such results. Assist in identifying opportunities and risks associated with such results and compare results to relative benchmarks.
  • Lead McCain USA’s revenue assurance process by developing protocols to ensure that all incremental revenues to be derived through pricing action are realized.
  • Ensure that McCain USA’s pricing actions are realized by auditing the system inputs of the Pricing and Deal Control team, as well as statistically sampling post increase invoices, and OSA records.

Personnel Management

  • Train, motivate and manage a school/retail analyst responsible for pricing and trade strategy reviews.

Trade Spend Strategy

  • Develop, support, track/monitor and “push” tactical and strategic price and trade spend projects and processes.
  • Responsible for the establishment, enforcement, and reporting of local and corporate trade spend budgets.
  • Lead the preliminary and post mortem ROI assessments on trade spend programs and marketing promotions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with pricing/trade guidelines.
  • Provide necessary training to field and national account sales

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Accounting, Finance. -required
  • Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office. Prior experience working with relational databases and report writers desirable.
  • MBA and/or CPA preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 6+ years experience in financial analysis, financial planning, accounting, and/or Pricing Management is required. 
  • Prior experience working with tight deadlines and demonstrated responsibility for accuracy and timeliness for work performed.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Must be able to convey information to all levels of the organization in a clear, focused, and concise manner.
  •  Experience with CPG or other food manufacturing companies strongly preferred.
