Our client is a mulit-biIllion privately held, vertically-integrated, global organization with roots firmly planted in agriculture and agriculture-related businesses with food processing and distributing centers located throughout the US and abroad. We are currently executing a confidential high level search for an Engineering Manager/Leader to oversee the company’s corporate engineering group and serve as the company’s “thought leader” regarding implementing strategic engineering initiatives and programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Manager will  provide guidance, direction and resources for the various and challenging design projects to satisfy the production and maintenance departments' needs while maintaining a satisfactory cost-benefit ratio, and complying with safety, environmental and quality standards. The position will also have the opportunity to be a company-wide resource by working with other corporate and facility staff to address technical and compliance issues as they occur.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the largest and most complex capital projects from concept to completion and commissioning for the North American Food Group include the oversight of a new 380,000 sq ft food processing plant
  •  Oversee the design and construction of capital and non-capital projects by planning, directing and delegating work assignments, managing outside contractors and making purchasing decisions, scheduling, etc.
  • Interfaces with other departments to ensure projects are correctly prioritized and meet expectations by creating a formalized project management system to ensure that projects are passed from one department to the next in an orderly fashion and that pertinent input is obtained from each group.
  • Stays abreast of changing regulatory environment and oversees department compliance by interfacing with environmental personnel and outside consultants, attending meetings and seminars, and studying government regulations.
  • Provides expertise on construction projects by specifying process equipment/instrumentation and materials by comparing what other industries are using, studying product information, and through past experience with vendors.
  • Evaluates capital expenditure proposals for the plant. Provides feedback on capital investment results to assure maximum return on capital investments.

EDUCATION
BS Engineering degree from four-year college or university. B.Sc. or M.Sc. (preferred) in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Civil Engineering
P.E. Certification is highly desirable

EXPERIENCE
15+ years’ experience working in a FMCG  environment, 5+ years’ experience in multi-operations environment, 5+ years of experience managing other professionals and projects. Extensive capital projects starting at 25MM and higher and budget development experience is mandatory. Knowledgeable of food manufacturing processes and packaging is essential.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must possess proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project Manager, and Microsoft Office suite of tools. Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a valid U.S. passport for required travel to multiple production facilities. Extensive people and change management experience will be required at this level. Demonstrated knowledge of capital budget development experience is required. Significant experience in developing department budgets is preferred. Previous experience managing technical groups will be preferred. Demonstrated knowledge relating to relevant design activities.
