Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor supports and supervises a team of 6-10 Maintenance Technicians whose mission is to support and maintain the facility and equipment necessary to achieve maximum efficiency and product quality, while ensuring food safety, and maintaining a safe, union-free work environment. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise assigned Technicians and Maintenance staff to maximize operational success; oversee the performance of indirect reports as well as develop and manage performance objectives for the direct staff to ensure the retention and most effective utilization of talent
  • Track Technician’s work order time and analyze downtime issues
  • Identifies root causes of downtime/efficiency  problems and creates action plans
  • Actively contribute in the establishment of an environment and culture that promotes safety in the workplace
  • Maintain and improve equipment preventive maintenance program and oversee work order completion. All Critical work orders are completed within 24-48 hr.
  • Supervise  equipment overhaul and modifications necessary to achieve maximum performance
  • Effectively track and minimize operational down time due to equipment/facility obstacles; effectively track and maximize the efficiency and success of production line changeovers to ensure daily on-time startup
  • Partner with plant Operations leadership to achieve monthly run efficiency, labor and raw material usage objectives; monitor progress and take action to provide appropriate support to achieve shared objectives
  • Maintain a union-free workplace through positive employee relations
  • Partner with Human Resources and other functions to establish, grow and maintain a motivated, contributory work culture
  • Participate in achieving or exceeding annual targeted corporate and operational objectives
  • Develop direct supportive relationships with vendors, contractors, consultants and governmental agency representatives as necessary
  • Achieve or exceed targeted production throughputs, raw material and packaging usage rates and labor standards
  • Achieve or exceed targeted parts inventory/usage rates
  • Achieve or exceed targeted utility usage rates
  • Achieve or exceed indirect labor usage standards
  • Provide timely, accurate reports on equipment, systems and facility operations as necessary
  • Ensure that equipment/facility/manufacturing utilization results data is furnished accurately and timely
  • Work with peers, superiors and subordinates to insure the execution of the operating plan schedule meets business demand
  • Provide timely counseling and performance appraisals to direct staff
  • Partner with Human Resources to resolve employee relations concerns and to consistently administer disciplinary action when needed

Qualifications: 

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management or comparable/related experience, including Lean Manufacturing implementation(s)
  • Technical certification in an industrial maintenance or mechanical specialty preferred.
  • Completion of a 10-hour Occupational Safety and Health training course in General Industry Safety & Health preferred.
  • HVAC and Electrician Certification preferred.
  • 2+ years in an manufacturing leadership capacity with quantifiable results
  • 5+ years of technical maintenance experience in a food manufacturing environment, with food bar manufacturing being a definite plus.
  • 5 + years of experience with current manufacturing management approaches and techniques that includes Lean Manufacturing principles
  • 5 + years of experience working with OSHA and other relevant regulatory compliance practices
  • 2 – 5 years experience current work experience with GMP’s, food allergen handling and other food safety related practices
