Job Description

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES      PERCENTAGE

1. Manage the plant’s quality program to achieve quality goals   20%
as stated in the Business Plan.    

 2. Assures that production yields and efficiencies are met as   20%
 defined by budgetary and corporate standards.    

3. Maintain high productivity and cost effectiveness through    10%
proper scheduling of production and processing operations,
maintenance and manpower.

4. Demonstrates leadership in the Cheese Processing     20%
Department by managing programs in training, safety,
Communications, performance recognition and internal employee
Development in order to ensure peak employee productivity.         

5. Implements plant safety programs to ensure a safe    15%
working environment.   

6. Integrates Company Quality into all aspects of the     15%
Cheese Processing Department function as evidenced by
demonstrating continuous improvement; teamwork with co-
workers, distinguished customer service and striving
for excellence.        
 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (“musts”)

• Ability to relocate to  Michigan or surrounding area (if not local)
• Ability to support a 24 hour operation
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Packaging, or related discipline OR seven years hands on experience in food industry
• Minimum of 3 years of production supervisory experience in food plant environment or equivalent industry with FDA/MDA regulations (pharmaceutical, cosmetic, etc)
• Strong leadership with demonstrated skills and ability to coach and develop
• Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule to accommodate all/any shift depending on production and/or project needs
• Strong potential for continued career growth with flexibility to relocate if needed


PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS (“wants”)

• Prior cheese and/or dairy foods manufacturing experience
• Knowledge and ability to manage continuous improvement processes such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
• Strong interpersonal or people-oriented presence
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Understanding of financial accountabilities


EQUIPMENT PROFICIENCY

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with SAP integrated system is preferred
