Job Description

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (Marketing Concentration preferred) required,  MBA a plus.  5+ years of Branded Consumer Product Marketing Experience required, Frozen Food Products and Sales experience a plus.  Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software, plus the ability to understand and use Syndicated and shipment data.

The Marketing Manager for Retail will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement annual marketing plans with Senior Marketing Manager.  Success with be judged by ability to meet specific objectives related to growth in sales and new products while being consistent with the company’s mission, values and quality policy.
  • Manage Club and Private Label base business and new products.
  •  Develop annual business plans including consumer promotion activities and package enhancements while demonstrating leadership role in the projects assigned.
  • Manage Club and Private Label base business and new products.
  • Manage budgets/costs to plan of assigned businesses and begin to assume overall P&L management (i.e. Advertising, Consumer promotions, packaging, marketing research budgets), plus costs and pricing.
  • Responsible for competitive and category segment review and exploration with syndicated and consumer trend data to identify business opportunities.
  • Introduce line extensions, product reformulations and cost saving initiatives.
  • Provide effective tools to the sales team, i.e., promotional programs, sales materials for trade and consumer, POP, etc.
  • Comprehends all Perdue marketing information systems and can retrieve all relevant data to analyze consumption/factory volume trends for Perdue and competitors to ensure issues and opportunities are identified on a timely basis.
  • Management of the creative development process via direct agency interaction on Media and Consumer Promotion (including brief development, creative cost estimates, media estimates, and photo-shoot process).
  • Management of package design including photography, proofing, ingredient, and nutrition claims.
  • Work with Senior Marketing Manager with decisions impacting various aspects of the marketing mix including consumer promotions, packaging design, trade promotions, public relations, marketing research projects and advertising.  In addition, will help with decisions on volume calls, product mix, pricing and profit.
  • Manage Club and Private Label business including volume, new product development and profit targets.

  • Launching New Products:  Has previously showcased their ability to launch “successful” new products with fully developed sales materials, trade plans, advertising/media, packaging, and consumer promotion activity.
  • Creativity:  Demonstrates creative insight and/or adds a new perspective to business planning and the development of new marketing programs.
  • Ability to Work Cross-Functionally:  Demonstrates leadership and maturity when dealing with cross-functional areas.  Gains agreement and resolution on processes to keep projects moving.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making:  Uses available brand marketing knowledge to analyze business problems.  Recommends solutions appropriate with brand objectives and strategies.
  • Sells Ideas within Marketing Department:  Gets ideas approved within the marketing department using logical and practical rationale that is presented in a persuasive and concise manner.
  • Brand Positioning:  Understands and demonstrates ability to leverage brand positioning in all marketing activities:  sales materials, trade planning, advertising/media, packaging, and consumer promotion.
  • Trade Planning:  Demonstrates ability to understand trade strategy and develop programs with trade marketing to achieve brand objectives.
  • Analytical/Financial:  The ability to gather and interpret information from P&L’s and syndicated databases.
