We currently have an opening for a Metallurgical Engineer at our Smoky Mine located on the Idaho/Wyoming boarder.
AFTON, WY: Afton is centrally located in the beautiful Star Valley. Breathtaking country, an outdoorsman’s dream, this close knit community is about farming, family, and fun! The mine is located in Idaho, 30-mins west of Afton. Skiing, hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, boating and numerous other outdoor activities abound. Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons are located within a short drive, along with Bear Lake, and Grand Targhee. Wyoming school districts, in particular Star Valley, are some of the best in the Country.
SUMMARY: The Metallurgical Engineer will work closely with Mine, Mill, and Laboratory staff to support operations in gaining efficiency and lowering costs through feasibility studies, pilot testing and system implementation. Analyze data and make recommendations for improving effectiveness of reagents and consumables. Provide technical support for ore processing, product preparation and product pumping. Provide leadership within the technician department in a safe and environmentally compliant atmosphere.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering and 1 - 2 years progressive related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prefer candidate who has passed EIT.
- Successful must be self motivated and possess a good understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of Metallurgical engineering, ore processing, analytical chemistry, statistical analysis, algebra and fluid mechanics.
- Basic project management and creative problem solving skills with the ability to apply logic in interpreting and analyzing data.
- Ability to lead and supervise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to live in a small community and be an active participant.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks or projects.
- Must be able to comprehend and willing to follow all safety instructions and training as per site specific conditions dictate.
