Job Description

McCormick & Company, Incorporated, a global leader in flavor, is seeking a full time Category Managerin its ConsumerProducts Division Western Regional Sales Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibility of this position is to lead our category management and shopper insights initiatives with our key strategic customers, and provide thought leadership to both our internal & external stakeholders, including our sales teams, marketing, and at all levels of the customer.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding industry, consumer and category trends and translating those insights into actionable strategic business recommendations to achieve both McCormick and customer goals and objectives
  • Providing analysis and shopper insight driven recommendations against all key business drivers, and leading presentations related to category business reviews, assortment & space optimization, promotion & pricing effectiveness, and trade efficiency.
  • Leveraging all the analytic tools available to identify customer opportunities
  • Developing collaborative partnerships with key strategic customers so that McCormick is viewed as the category leader in providing flavor solutions and category recommendations for the categories in which we compete
  • Manage and develop one direct Analyst position and up to three indirect Analyst positions

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or other related field required.
  • 5+ years Sales/Marketing experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of Category Management experience within a CPG company preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Category Management process, and strong knowledge of syndicated and panel data (IRI, Nielsen, Spectra, etc.) required.
  • Familiarity with space management software (Apollo, JDA ProSpace, etc) preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working with customer POS data systems (dunnhumby, Retail Link, etc) preferred
  • Strong analytic skills, and demonstrated ability to translate insights into actionable business recommendations that deliver positive results required.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to analyze and understand the data and then effectively communicate those insights to both internal and external audiences required.
  • Ability to react quickly and complete tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines required.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, self-motivated and team oriented required.
  • Willingness to relocate for future assignments required.
