Job Description

Position Overview:

Directs and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in customer service, production planning, forecasting, raw material procurement and transportation of goods at the manufacturing facilities, 3rd party manufacturers, and outside warehouses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees customer service function of order processing, attainment of service objectives and resolving customer complaints
  • Approves stocking requirements on all customer requested finished goods and raw materials.
  • Directs the planning of inventory builds to support customer promotions, roll outs and LTOs through the plant planning groups.
  • Work closely with Sales and Finance to establish demand plan and appropriate supply plan
  • Establishes scheduling production processes. 
  • Establishes and directs the material availability and working capital levels for raw materials and finished goods to support customer demands while meeting corporate goals.
  • Directs the Sales & Operations Process
  • Oversees all activities related to the movement of material through all warehouses and 3rd Party manufacturers.
  • Oversees transportation function and attainment of objectives
  • Identifies, negotiates and supervises all contract manufacturing/packaging relationships for GLUS. 
  • Directs the processing of orders through 3rd party manufacturing while meeting customer time tables.
  • Directs and approves the disposal of expired and surplus materials.
  • Determines the appropriate plant loading of products based upon product type, customer, distribution center, costs, and plant capabilities.
  • Balances production planning across facilities to maintain efficiencies, service, cost, and inventory effectiveness.
  • Establishes capacity model of plant locations for ongoing analysis to determine present and future capability requirements.
  • Represents Supply Chain perspective and support on various support teams.
  • Identifies and implements improvements for cost, working capital, and service
  • Supervises 21 (4 direct, 17 indirect) employees.  Responsibilities include team building, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Experience:

  • BS/BA required; preferably in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or Business Management from an accredited university.
  • MBA a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years inventory management and planning experience
  • 5+ years experience in Systems: order processing, ERP platforms, planning, forecasting, and Microsoft tools necessary
