Solutions Effectiveness Manager Americas

Job Summary
The Network Services AMS Solutions Effectiveness Manager, is part of the Network Services team within IT Infrastructure Services and reports to the Global Project and Solutions Director. The role is responsible for the Data Network and Fixed Voice service lines (WAN, LAN, WLAN, Remote access, TDM/IP telephony) and integration of high quality, cost effective and optimal solutions into the Unilever operational environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Will be the lead within the area for defining statement of requirements for new solutions, verification of proposals from BT from both commercial and technical perspectives. The individual will have a very strong knowledge and understanding of telecommunications marketplace, the technical trends and opportunities to maximize those from to a business perspective. He will be the owner of the ‘Tactical Work-plan’ for the region which will be the key strategy documents for driving the direction of services provided to the Unilever client/user base. Direct line management responsibility for two Unilever solution effectiveness analysts, complex virtual teams and multiple internal and external clients and vendors.

The main points of contact will be BT Business Directors/Managers and Solutions Architects.

  • Manages the quality of solutions provided by the vendor from a technical and commercial perspective and ensures that those sit within the ‘Tactical Work-plan’. E.g. He would validate the proposal being submitted by BT for any Cordillera related network enhancements. He needs to ensure that the solution is optimal and in the best interests of Unilever from a cost and service perspective.
  • The owner of ‘Tactical Work-plan’ for respective technology streams and lead for respective functional engagement.
  • Working with Country/MCO to identify the opportunities for Network Services to maximize savings and provide business growth opportunities. E.g. He would work with countries to renegotiate voice contracts and guide on the most optimal tariff plans for the business requirements.
  • Participates and contributes in the monthly capacity reviews on all services on a monthly basis with NS Service Quality team from UL & BT.
  • Development of contractual documentation for new services from BT. E.g. developing service schedules for any new service being deployed in the globally, regionally or in-country. He works closely with the Service Quality Manager to develop the same.
  • Conduct regular design reviews and monthly Solution POD with BT Solutions Architects.
  • Work with other Solutions effectiveness manager on major technologies changes and opportunities to reduce costs and influence. Presents these changes and opportunities to the stakeholders.
  • Builds strong cross-services relationships to ensure that solutions which impact across service-lines are fully understood, planned and executed by project delivery teams.
  • Contribute to the decision making of the annual regional budgeting and planning process and the demand and consumption of services.

Also responsible for the following processes and/or has a major role to play in the execution of the following processes:

  • Service Knowledge Retention
  • Service Schedule Production
  • Root Cause analysis
  • Service development
  • Continuous improvement

Key Requirements
BS or BA degree in related field. With 8 plus years demonstrated leadership and supervisory Data Network and Fixed Voice service experience. Telecoms industry standards (commercial & technical) and trends– fully operational. PMP or Prince 2 Project Management methodology, Service Management (ITIL) and IT Policy Framework working knowledge Report writing skills – Fully operational
