Jennie-O Foods, Inc. started in the 1940s as a vision of the Minnesota-native entrepreneur and part-time turkey grower, Earl B. Olson, who purchased his first turkey processing plant in 1949 in Willmar. Throughout the decades, the company, which was named after Earl's daughter Jennifer, grew and thrived. Hormel Foods Corporation acquired Jennie-O Foods in December 1986. Since the acquisition, Jennie-O Foods grew from being the sixth largest turkey processor in the United States to become the industry leader.
The Turkey Store Company started in 1922 in Barron, Wis., when 13-year-old Wallace Jerome hatched a tom turkey from 14 turkey eggs and two hens. In 1924, Jerome raised 21 turkeys, and in 1925 he hatched 90 poults. During the years that followed, the enterprising young man grew up — and grew his business into one of the nation's largest, fully integrated turkey operations. In February 2001, Hormel Foods acquired The Turkey Store Company and united the company with its wholly owned subsidiary, Jennie-O Foods, to create the industry-leading organization, Jennie-O Turkey Store, Inc.
With such a rich history, JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® products enjoy a strong reputation for quality, taste, health and convenience. Combining The Turkey Store's number-one position in fresh, boneless retail products with Jennie-O's strong brand presence in the further-processed retail, foodservice and deli areas, creates the most extensive line of branded turkey products.
