Ben Myerson began working in the candy industry in 1912 and formed the Ben Myerson Candy Company in Los Angeles in 1937. His sons, Bob and Jim, joined the business in the 1940s. In 1955, the company acquired Christopher's, the oldest candy company in Southern California. Bob's son, Jim Myerson, represents the third generation of Myersons in the candy industry.
Christopher's had manufactured chocolate products since 1887 and a pure fruit pectin jelly candy for members of the Sunkist Growers Cooperative since 1932. The relationship with the growers led to the granting of the first domestic license agreement to use the Sunkist name in 1974.
