Bavaria, the southernmost region of Germany, is also the homeland of Anton and Gertraud Stiglmeier, the founders of the Stiglmeier Sausage Company. Anton mastered the secrets of making good sausage in his native Munich, while Gertraud, who came from Garmisch, was trained in selling it. After emigrating to Chicago, they started the Stiglmeier Sausage Company in the year 1960. They built their business on the firm foundation of old-fashioned values, traditional Bavarian and other German recipes, and a love for good sausage.
