Superior Dairy Inc. has again demonstrated its leadership in Northeast Ohio with its two latest product introductions: premium frozen yogurt and Superior Sugar-Free Supreme, a fat-free, cholesterol-free, sugar-free frozen dairy dessert. Both are packaged in round, Convocan paperboard containers from Sealright Co. Inc.
Convocan packages have long been Superior's choice for its premium ice cream and sherbet, so members of the family-owned company chose round containers for the new additions, too. Superior introduced its premium frozen yogurt in 1989 and Superior Sugar-Free Supreme in April, 1990.
We looked around and saw the trend of light frozen dairy dessert popularity in the Midwest," says Dan Soehnlen, executive vice president for operations at the Canton, Ohio-based dairy. "We saw the products in a Sealright package and, after additional research, chose to develop our premium frozen yogurt and Superior Sugar-Free Supreme brands in round Convocan containers, also."
To find out what consumers wanted in light frozen dairy desserts, Superior conducted extensive test marketing for its premium yogurt and Superior Sugar-Free Supreme. The company organized focus groups throughout Northeast Ohio and conducted taste tests of Superior products alongside other similar products.
