- The bulk of WestFarm's milk is made into butter, cheese and whey powder. Only about 61 million pounds out of the 6 billion it produces are sold as milk.About two-thirds of WestFarm's business is what's called industrial products. Industrial products such as bulk butter, bulk cheeses, dry milk powder, whey powder and whey fractions are produced and sold to institutions, food brokers and other food processing companies. The company packages all of McDonald's and Burger King's milk on the West Coast, for instance. The other third of WestFarm's business comes from selling products like milk, cheese, butter and sour cream under the Darigold brand name.
