- Founded in 1986, the Amsterdam brewing company was the first brew pub in toronto. The business was established by John Street in downtown Toronto in what is now the entertainment district. The concept was very successful and soon expanded to the King Street location in 1988 as the Rotterdam Brew Pub. In 1997, as the craft beer market was growing, the restaurant space was converted to manufacturing space to increase brewing capacity and facilitate the launch of bottled Amsterdam beer to the market. IN 2005, The Amsterdam Brew relocated to its new home on 21 Bathurst St, where we will continue to brew fine craft ales and lagers.
