Wente Vineyards is a family owned winery established in 1883, producing exceptional
award winning wines in Livermore California.
The Wente family vineyards are located in the Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay, and Arroyo Seco, Monterey. The Livermore Valley lies fifteen miles east of the San Francisco Bay, and is significantly influenced by the moderating effects of the Bay as well as the marine breezes from the Pacific Ocean.Three distinct soil types differentiate the Wentes' Livermore Valley vineyards: deep sandy loam; lean soil with large amounts of gravel and rock; and soil composed of red clay, rock and gravel. These soils, in combination with the micro-climates of the Livermore Valley, create the varying terroir suitable to producing extraordinary wines. The family's Monterey vineyards are located slightly southwest of Salinas in the Arroyo Seco region. Arroyo Seco is a cooler area with an extended growing season, resulting in wines with concentrated flavors.
