- Don't let the name fool you, Newly Weds Foods doesn't bake wedding cakes. But it might just make that cake tastier. The company makes seasonings, marinades, batters, and breadings for the food processing and food service industries. Newly Weds uses its proprietary database, FlavorTrak, to monitor restaurant trends and then develop flavors it hopes will appeal to the most consumers. Acquisitions continue to help the company grow. In 2002 it bought RHM Ingredients, and in 2003 it acquired Heller Seasonings. Owner and CEO Charles Angell inherited the company, which his father founded in the 1930s when the elder Angell created a rolled ice-cream cake, which "married" cake and ice cream.
