Parkside Candy Company opened its first location in the 1930s. From the beginning, candies and chocolates were made on-site. This shop was featured in the 1983 movie "The Natural". The building now houses the Main Daycare Center but much of Parkside's interior (wooden booths, counter, fixtures, window shutters) and exterior signage is intact.
Parkside's second location was built a few years later giving the company a much larger candy-making plant behind its elaborate Art Deco ice cream parlor. In addition to the cases of candies, it serves ice cream, soup and sandwiches.
