Spinney Creek Shellfish is a family owned business with a 20 year history. We know oysters and clams and take an active role in protecting them and their environment.
The Spinney Creek Shellfish laboratory is a key part of our business. The laboratory analysts test our shellfish to ensure safety and quality. The lab is evaluated annually by State and Federal Laboratory Evaluation Officers to insure that we maintain adequate equipment, that proper techniques are applied and that analysis is correct.
Spinney Creek has maintained a lab that conforms to the requirements of the National Shellfish Sanitation Program since 1984. Our shellfish spend hours in tanks of flowing sterilized Maine seawater to ensure they have been properly cleaned. The company performs tests of shellfish meats as well as growing and process waters on a regular basis to ensure that only the highest quality shellfish leave our doors.
