Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Cargill has launched a digital platform with a test group of Cargill’s edible oil customers in the United States. The platform, called myCargill.com, allows users to order online, review invoices and review order history, while providing access to food safety information and product specifications.
Although the platform is in its introductory stage, the company plans on adding features that include market intelligence and real-time tracking of orders and shipments, according to Cargill’s North American Leader for Global Edible Oils, Gonzalo Petschen.
“It’s 24 hours. Most of our customers don’t operate just 8 to 5,” explained Petschen.
“We think innovation, including technology and digitalization, can help us address some of the greatest challenges facing the global food system. Our customers are asking for faster, round-the-clock services, and I think in this case, we are addressing that,” he said.
The platform will be launched in phases, adding other capabilities outside edible oils as time progresses.
